A seven day & night special N.S.S. camp was held in Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sec-26, Chandigarh from 29-12-2013 to 04-01-2013 under the guidance and supervision of college Principal Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi and N.S.S programme officers. Above hundred N.S.S volunteers participated in the camp. During the camp various workshop were held and N.S.S. volunteers were exhorted to do selfless community service. These workshops included personality judgement and development, art and handmade craft, happiness enhancement programme. An AIDS talk was alsi organized.
A special self-defense programme trained the volunteers to protect themselves. This programme helped the girls to learn security techniques under proper guidance of commando from Chandigarh Police. A motivational lecture was delivered by Mr. J.S. Jayra, Principal of school for blind, Sector-26, Chandigarh.
The theme of the camp was ‘Healthy Youth for healthy India’. N.S.S volunteers also visited the crèche or Bal Wadi in Bapu Dham Colony, Sector-26, Chandigarh and conducted a survey and interacted with the tiny tots and care takers. Report was made to provide them necessary requisites regarding their problems. Tiny tots are provided with self-made teaching aids and food articles were distributed.
