By Ankur Vadhera : Slogans of ‘Bura matt saho’, ‘Spare no evil’ and ‘Do no evil’ were echoed in unison during an open house discussion on ‘4 lions of national pride and 3 monkeys of Gandhiji’s Ideals. What could be the fourth one?’ organized by the Student Council of MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh to celebrate the World Peace day.
The students all clad in white, the colour of peace, enthusiastically examined the Gandhian Ideals during the discussion. While some of the students opined that Gandhian Ideals were irrelevant in the contemporary times, the majority voiced the ageless pertinence of his Ideals such as Passive resistance, non- violence and inner tranquility. At the termination of the debate the students unanimously resolved to observe and propagate the Gandhian Ideals to further world peace and universal fraternity.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Puneet Bedi appreciated the endeavor and said that understanding Gandhian philosophy and fulfilling his dream of world peace through his Principles is the best tribute to him. She also impressed upon the girls the idea of building a better self to create a better world.
