Chandigarh, July 13 : A large number of passouts from Kurukshetra University’s (KU) distance education programme over the past 12 years are in the job market with “invalid degrees” of nearly 35-odd courses offered by the university’s centre. What’s worse is that the students are not even aware that the degrees they hold are not recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC), the central body for upholding standards and providing recognition to distance education programmes.
This is true for all students who cleared various courses from the Distance Education Centre between 1995 and 2007. Though the university, on its part, never bothered to inform the students that it did not have the mandatory DEC approval for running the distance education programme, their rejection at the hands of prospective employers has come as a jolt.
