Jammu, Dec 3: Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today criticized the decision of Jammu University authorities for reinstated Professor Darshana Sharma as Programme coordinator for M. Ed at Department of Distance Education (DDE).
Addressing media persons, President of JYF Vikram Kumar said that in 2013, a student was caught copying in DDE along with a book and suspended for two years. A contractual lecturer Dr. Narseema and Professor Darshana Sharma were on duty and in front of duo, the accused was copying. Authorities of Jammu University had terminated contractual lecturer Dr. Narseema on the same day, but no action has been taken against Professor Darshana Sharma.
Inspite of regular protest against varsity authorities at least the authorities has constituted four members committee including Dean Academic Affairs, Controller Examination, Dean Faculty of Education and Prof Kulwant. The committee has taken decision that non-renewal of services of Dr Nasreen debarred the student for two years from appearing in examination.
JYF president further said that when the committee members conducted internal assessment test for failed M. Ed. student Mohd Iqbal, Dr Nasreen had told the committee in her statement, that she was forced by the coordinator to favour the candidate for reasons best known to her (Coordinator).
“Favouring their colleague (Dr Darshana), the committee members punished only contractual Lecturer Dr Nasreen.”On October 3, 2013 the inquiry committee submitted its report to the then Vice Chancellor, Dr MPS Isher putting whole responsibility on terminated lecturer”, Kumar said and added that Dr Darshana would be conducting Personal Contact Programme (PCP) M. Ed. session 2014-15, commencing from today, 2014.
Nevertheless, the present Acting Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Professor RD Sharma has reinstated Dr Darshana Sharma as Programme Coordinator for Med at DDE, it was totally wrong and the acting Vice Chancellor shirk the decision of former Vice Chancellor.
They appealed Chancellor, NN Vohra to direct Vice Chancellor of JU to take action against the involved Professor without any further delay; otherwise they would be forced to start agitation. Among those who were present in the press-conference included Jatinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Rahul Sharma, and Harpreet Singh.
