Jammu : The three-member National Assessment and accreditation council ( NAAC) peer team that visited University of Jammu completed its three-day long review of activities and performance of the UGC-Academic Staff College JU and presented a copy of the report to Prof M.P Singh Ishar , Vice chancellor University of Jammu in presence of Prof Neelam Saraf, Director, ASC,Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar,Prof Lokesh Verma, Prof Meena Sharma,Prof Madhu Singh.Prof N.K Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Dr Jai Kumar, Joint Registrar and Ranjeet Kalra, Asst Director, ASC. NAAC Peer team which visited University of Jammu between February 23-25, 2012 comprised of its Chairman, Prof. N. S Gajbhiye,Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, Prof. M S K Khokar, Head, Rural Technology & Dean College Development Council, Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur and Prof U. Subba Rao, Bhim Rao Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. Assessment and evaluation was done by the NAAC team for the curricular aspects of various training courses conducted by the Academic Staff College, programme organization, delivery and evaluation, infrastructure and learning resources available with the College, leadership, governance and functional efficiency, management information systems and innovative practices adopted by the College.
While speaking at the exit meeting of the peer team chairman Prof. N. S Gajbhiye,Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar expressed satisfaction over the nature, design and conduct of various training courses by the UGC Academic Staff College. He also suggested certain changes and reforms like introduction of “Credit System”. The team stressed upon the need for upgrading the available infrastructure a nd impressed upon inviting more and more eminent resource persons from across India for training the participants. The team also emphasized upon making the courses diverse and need-based and said that a marked improvement was visible in the performance of the UGC Academic Staff College. The chairman said the team was overwhelmed by the hospitality and the warmth of the Jammu people. He also appreciated the way present Director Prof Neelam Saraf and her Staff is handling the affairs of ASC with full support of the university and Dept. of Higher Education Jammu & Kashmir Govt..Prof Ishar expressed satisfaction over the visit of the peer team and said the visit and the findings will for sure help improve the over all facilities at the college.
