Jammu:10-March: Jammu Youth Forum today protest against Governor N N Vohra, the Chancellor of the University of Jammu, for not maintaining killer silence against the prevalent corruption/nepotism in the Varsity under the patronage of acting Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma.
Addressing the gathering here today, JYF president Mohd Akram Ahmed strongly flayed the Governor N N Vohra, who also happens to be the Chancellor of the Varsity, for deliberately ignoring the representations exposing the misdeeds of Acting Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, and sought intervention of Prime Minister, Narendera Modi.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, in authoritarian way, issued the order of Prof Kesar’s removal levelling unjustified allegations against her. Pertinently, she (Prof Kesar), in the capacity of HoD Dogri, had written a letter to Acting Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma highlighting the fraud in the evaluation of answer scripts of MA Dogri (2nd Semester).
The JU administration instead of appreciating the act of HoD levelled baseless allegation of leaking the official communication and removed her from the post which is illogical and unjust. Further, the three office bearers of JURSEA namely Sunny Babbar (general secretary), Manzoor (joint secretary) and Gopal (treasurer) have been suspended and there entry has been banned on the campus as they had exposed the fraud in evaluation of answer scripts through the medium of press conference.
Acting Vice Chancellor failed to take note of the letter sent by HoD Dogri dated Dec 22, 2014. It clearly shows that the acting Vice Chancellor sided with Prof Shiv Dev Singh, who committed fraud in evaluation and also an accused in sexual harassment case.
“It seems he actually wants to mislead the Worthy Chancellor of the University (Governor) through such statements in public,” he alleged.
He mentioned that JURSEA was protesting on several issues that includes re-instatement of Prof Darshana Sharma as MEd Coordinator in Distance Education who was held guilty by inquiry committee of facilitating copying and subsequently suspended by the then Vice Chancellor Prof M P S Isher; Allotment of Statistics class to Math scholar in Distance Education in violation of rules by Prof Darshana Sharma; Efforts to reinstate Prof Sushil Sharma (Punjabi, DDE) who was involved in an alleged molestation case and suspended six years ago by the then Vice Chancellor Prof Varun Sahni; Engagement of contractual lecturer in Remote Sciences Department by acting Vice Chancellor himself violating all norms, proper facilities in health centre, central library, hostels etc .
He said that the above said issues/ controversies were created by the acting Vice Chancellor and not the students and scholars’ organizations and they were just fulfilling their moral obligation of raising voice against the unethical practices. “As we are speaking up against the misdeeds of acting Vice Chancellor he is feeling perturbed and issuing meaningless statements which we condemn vehemently,” he expressed.
Among those who were present in the protest included, Sunil Gupta, Palvi Verma, Shoal, Ashif Amhed, Shoal Khan, Ashif Amhed, Anil Kumar, Gagandeep Singh, Navjot Singh, Sanjay Singh, Shoal, Ashif Amhed, Amit Sharma.
