27 Nov :A ten member’s delegation of Jammu University Teachers’ Association met the Chancellor of the University of Jammu, Shri N. N. Vohra, the Governor of J&K to apprise him of the working condition in the Campus. The members apprised the Chancellor that the seniority, dignity and the respect of the teachers has not been taken into account while deciding the administrative hierarchy.
The members briefed about the prevailing situation on the Campus regarding the appointment of Director Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning as above to every existing administrative and academic body. The Chancellor patiently listened to the delegation’s viewpoint and assured that suitable and necessary remedial steps will be taken at the earliest to restore the respect and dignity of the teachers of the University of Jammu and responsibility of the lapses will be fixed up. The delegation assured that the class work will not be suspended and there will be no agitation of the teachers.
The rest of the teachers took out a rally in the Campus in support of their demand like abolition of the Quality Centre, fixing up the responsibility and support the cause of respect and dignity of the teachers. Later on, the rally was addressed by Professor N. K. Tripathi, President JUTA, Professor B. P.S. Sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs and Professor N. K. Gnai.
The members of JUTA decided to hold general body meeting on Monday the 1st December, 2008 to review the progress related to the issue.
