“Urdu Mushiras had played a vital role in maintaining National Integration and Communal Harmony. There is a great importance of Urdu Mushiras and Urdu loving people love to participate in the Mushiras held in any country of the world. The Mushiras can play an important role in creating good relations with neighbored country Pakistan. Their should be no restriction on Indian poets to visit Pakistan and Pakistani poets to India as they gave the message of love”.
These views were expressed by Minister for Agriculture Jb Ghulam Hassan Mir who was the Guest of Honour while delivering his speech in the all India Urdu Mushira organized by the department of urdu, University of Jammu. Jb Ghulam Hassan Mir said that Urdu had become a universal language and it is spoken mostly in all the countries of the world. Urdu Mushiras are being held in America, UK, Dubhai, Canada and other countries where people in large scale appreciate the poetry of poets. Urdu Mushiras are playing a vital role in popularizing the Urdu language throughout the world. The Minister further added that Urdu is the official language of the state and it is the duty of the state government to promote the language. He said that he would like to contribute something for the proposed Sadat Hassan Manto Auditorium which was announced by Higher Education Minister Jb Abdul Gani Malik couple of days back.
While speaking on the occasion Vice Chancellor Prof. M.P. Singh Ishar the Chief Guest of the all India Urdu Mushira said that he is proud that he knows Urdu language and can read and write it” I had attended several urdu Mushiras in Lucknow, Delhi and Punjab”. Prof. Ishar said that the Mushiras can built the gap between India and Pakistan as poets of Urdu language had already spread the message of love and brotherhood in India as well as in Pakistan. Prof. Ishar further said that Urdu poets had also played a vital role in freedom struggle of India even Prem Chand had written some revolutionary short stories which were banned by British Government. The Vice Chancellor lauded the role of Urdu department for organizing literary and cultural activities at the campus and offered the full support of University administration for organizing such events in future also.
Director School Education Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi too spoke on the occasion. He was too of the view that Urdu Mushiras can play a vital role in maintaining National Integration and Communal Harmony. He congratulated the poets who presented their poetry in the all India Mushira and got tremendous response. These types of activities kept the campus alive said Qureshi. Eminent journalist Jb Ved Bahsin was also present on the occasion.
The Mushira was presided over by noted poet of the sub-continent Aresh Sahbhai. Those who recited their poetry in the Mushira and got thunder of applause from the audience included Kusbir Singh Shad, Rubina Shamban, Nalni Nazli, Sagar Sahrahi, Amien Banhali, Sajjad Poonchi, Parveez Malik, Sham talib, Mohan Singh Ulfat, Khalid Khrar, Vidya Ratan Asi, Amein Banhali and others.
The proceedings of the Mushira was conducted by the noted poet Sagar Sahrahi while vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, HOD Urdu who described the Mushira a successful one. He informed that in connection with centaury celebrations of Sadat Hassan Manto a stage play is being organized by the department of Urdu on the “Life and Short Stories of Sadat Hassan Manto” on 12th of March 2012. Prof. Shohab thanked Minister for Agriculture Jb Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice Chancellor Prof. M.P. Singh Ishar , MLA Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami, Director School Education Jb Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi, poets within and outside the states for spearing their valuable time and made the event a successful one. The Mushira was attended by University teachers, scholars and Prominent citizens.
