Jammu, October 14: Dr Meenakshi Kilam Director, Colleges Development Council has said that the need of the hour is capacity building in communication and computing skills for students and motivating and developing faculty for exploring possibilities of Industry-Academia collaboration. "These two initiatives would enhance the career prospects of the students. She urged the colleges to lay stress on faculty development programmes in order to emerge as model institutions of Public-Private Partnership in Higher Professional Education as envisioned by Prof. Amitabh Mattoo , Vice Chancellor University of Jammu ," Dr Meenakshi Kilam said.
Dr Meenakshi Kilam stated this during the inspection visit to Various Colleges. She particularly appreciated the Upgradation in infrastructure and learning resources created by these institutions and enhanced use of Information and Communication Technology in teaching-learning process during the last one year.
The team from Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu, headed by Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, Colleges Development completed the visits of institutions offering professional Post Graduate programmes –MBA and MCA to assess the improvements made for the current academic year. The team comprised of Prof. J.R.Dhotra, Dean, faculty of Management Studies, Dr. Jatinder Khajuria, Joint Director, Colleges Development Council, Prof. Devanand, Head of Computer Science, Dr. Vibhakar Mansotra, Department of computer Science, Sh. R.S.Dalpatia, Assistant Registrar, Colleges Development Council, Ms. Ginny Dogra, Assistant Director, Centre for Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning.
The MBA programme is being offered in Institute of Management Sciences, Mahant Bachitter Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Priyadarshni Institute of Management Science, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology and Set Business School and the MCA programme is being offered in Model Institute of Engineering and Technology and Mahant Bachitter Singh College of Engineering and Technology.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam further expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the private affiliated colleges offering MBA and MCA programmes over last one year.
