Chandigarh : The demand for oxygen is increasing with the increase of population. Due to increase in urban settlement, forests and trees are decreasing. Therefore, today it is a matter of research that how much is the demand for oxygen and how much oxygen is being produced naturally. If we do research keeping this topic in mind, then we will be able to understand the conspiracy of carbon emissions of western countries. This was stated by Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala the chairperson of Haryana State Higher Education Council.
Prof. Kuthiala said while addressing the researchers, students, and professors in the auditorium after the tree plantation drive in Panjab University, Chandigarh. He called upon the researchers to do research work from Indian concepts and points of view in environmental protection. Prof. B.K. Kuthiala, Chairperson, Haryana State Higher Education Council, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
A plantation drive was organized by the M. C. Mahajan Hall, Boys Hostel No. 1, and G. C. Chatterjee Hall, Boys Hostel No. 2 today. Prof. Kuthiala appreciated this initiative to save the environment and ensuring greenery in the hostel compound. He emphasized the importance of trees and oxygen especially in this Pandemic situation and the urgency to plant more trees.
Prof. V. R. Sinha, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University, Prof. S. K. Tomar, Dean student welfare (DSW), Prof. Meena Sharma, DSW (W) and Prof. Ashok Kumar (Associate DSW), Amarendra Aarya, Assistant professor, HSHEC, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Warden, BH-1, Dr. Tilak Raj, Warden, BH-2 along with hostel residents and other eminent persons of the Panjab University attended this event. Plants of Chandni, bargad, ficus, and peepal were planted in the compound of the two boy’s hostels under this drive.
