The annual fashion Aakriti, 2012 was organized at the Government Home Science College by the Department of Clothing and Textiles to showcase and model the in-house creations.
The Chief Guest for the evening was Mrs. Ninette Vas E. Sharma (w/o Adviser, Chandigarh) a lawyer by profession and having advanced Diploma in French, Portuguese, Travel and Tourism. She has also done Theory of Music form Trinity College of Music, London.
The Guest of Honour was Mrs. Pallavi Singh (w/o Finance cum Education Secretary, Chandigarh), Director Empowerment Centre and Organizing Secretary of Indian Council of Social Welfare. She is also involved with various women upliftment programs.
The models were presented collections of 16 different themes befitting different moods. The various rounds were in the titles: After-hour, Psychedelic, Rush Blush, Sumptuous Spectrum, Rosealla Shore, Sangam- the ethnic, Fushchia, Sizzling Spirit, Beach Bound, Incredible indigo, Ripples, Bedazzle, Runway report, Hi- Ho- Blue, Elite Meridian, Scartella, Bella Desire, and the last round “Swarnim Array” was dedicated to the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the college.
The fashion show was adjudged by three member jury – Mrs. Kanwal Thakur Singh, National badminton player, Arjuna Award winner and won medals in common wealth and Asian games; Dr. (Mrs.)Kavita Marriya, Ex. Head of Department Clothing & Textiles, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh for 23 years and Ms. Simrita, Head of the department Fashion Design, NIIFT, Mohali.
