Mohali, 30 Jan : Lawrence Public Senior Secondary School, Mohali remembered Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day . The purpose behind paying the homage was to inculcate spirit of peace, love and brotherhood among students. Students ensured their active participation at the moment .Students were dressed in Khadi to show their participation and enthusiasm to mark the Gandhian spirit of non–violence and truth.
Three monkeys of Gandhi Ji “Bura mat dekho, bura mat bolo, bura mat suno”were the main attraction at the moment. Students delivered speeches and recited poems highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s principles. Dandi march and Quit India Movement was also staged by the students, which stole the show. A play on Gandhi Ji’s life was also performed by the students with the theme that as a young child Mahatma Gandhi was afraid of dark but as he grew up he brought the world out of Darkness. Principal Ms. Veena Malhotra while appreciating the efforts of the students urged them to follow the path of non-violence and truth.
She further informed the students that he was a selfless leader and suffered many hardships for the freedom of our country. He was sent to jail many a times, but he suffered all this for the sake of the country. He believed in the social equality and was deadly against untouchability.She further added that Respectfully we call him Bapu or the Father of the Nation. The students also took a pledge to follow the principles of non-violence and truth as advocated by Gandhiji.
