Chandigarh, December 22, 2011:- The Chandigarh unit of the Sarva Shiksha Abhayan in collaboration with ALIMCO (Artificial limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) organized a function at GGMSSS-18 to distribute Aids and appliances to the children with special needs (CWSN). Education-cum-Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Mr. V.K. Singh presided over the function.
7 Hearing Aids, 34 Calipers, 19 Tricycles, 3 wheel chairs along with some crutches and Braille sticks were distributed among the Children With Special Needs who had gathered here from various government schools of the city. In keeping with the aim of SSA, CWSN having various physical and mental handicaps were assessed by Medical teams from GMCH-32 and Team from Artificial limbs manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) for providing the required assistive devices.
The chief guest went around the venue and interacted with the children and their parents urging them to think beyond their disability. He also put in a word of praise for ALIMCO for joining hands with the Education Department in this noble cause.
DPI(S) Sh. Sandeep Hans, Dy. DEO Sh. Ram Kumar and other officers were also graced the occasion with their presence.
