Chandigarh : Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh organized the Annual Prize Distribution Function in the college on 30th March 2015. Col G. S. Chadha, Registrar, Panjab University was the Chief Guest. College Principal Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi welcomed the guest and presented the annual report of the college highlighting the achievements of the students in the academics, sports and cultural activities. The function began with the recital of college shabad. The Chief Guest,Col G. S. Chadha in his speech congratulated the students on their achievements and wished them success in their futureendeavors. He motivated the students for incessant hard work and commitment to be successful in every field of life.
Around 300 prizes were given to students for their meritorious achievements in the fields of Academics, Cultural and Sports. Around 110 Students were given prizes in the field of Academics, 111 Students were given prizes in the field of Sports & 70 Students were given merit certificates and trophies for excellent achievements in Cultural activities. Trophies were also given to NSS volunteers and NCC cadets for their selfless service and dedicated work. Sapna Kumari (BA-II) was adjudged the Best Overall NCC Navy Wing Cadet.Priya (B.A II) was declared the Best Overall NCC Army Wing Cadet.
Jyoti (B.A-III) was awarded with Best All-Rounder Trophy andNeha (B.A-III) was declared the Best Outgoing Student. Pinki (B.A-II) was declared as Best Speaker, Amarjit Kaur (B.A II) asBest Instrumentalist, Neha Rawal (MSC-IT) as Best Dancer,Ruby Malik (M.Com-II) as Best Actor, Anchal (BA-III) as Best Artist, Sapna Kaushal (B.A-III) Best in Home Science & Kamal Preet Kaur(B.Com-III) Best in Gurmat Vichar for their achievements.
30 Scholarships worth Rs.57000 were given to needy and meritorious students. Reena (B.A-III) was awarded with scholarship of worth Rs. 5000, Charanjeet Kaur (BA-III)received scholarship of worth Rs. 3000.
More than 55 players participated in various National and All India Inter-University Tournaments in various games. Shalini of B.A III was declared the Best Outgoing Sportsperson whileRamnik Kaur (M.Com-I) was declared All-Rounder Best Sportsperson of the year. Jaspreet Kaur (B.A-III) was declared as Best Athlete of Panjab University.
