Bahbalpur (Hissar), April 06- “Good teacher teach the course of studies, great teacher teach the students like a doctor treat the patient and not the disease only,” opined Dr. M.M. Goel, Professor of Economics & Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kurukshetra University while addressing the staff and students of Gaur College of Education, here today.
He was speaking on the topic ‘Excellence Models for Teachers in a Changing Economic Scenario’.
To stand in the crowd, a teacher needs to become unique even if weak in the present times of competition where survival of fittest is the mantra.
To reestablish teaching as a profession which has otherwise become a vocation, we need honest, humane and hard working teachers. Through real education, professional or vocational, as a proper, productive and practical (3P) use of hands, heads ad hearts (3H), we can achieve morality, opulence, victory and empowerment to participate in socio-economic development with common sense, believes Professor Goel.
There is a strong case to strengthen the educational value of education which is more than making a person capable of earning his/her livelihood (conversion from unpad to Ann pad), observed Professor Goel.
Professor Goel feels pain in saying that spiritual bankruptcy and the commercialization of education are the root causes of deteriorating educational standards in India and is a serious issue of concern for polluting relationship between teacher and student of today. .
While quoting Alexander Pope, “True ease in writing come by Art not by chance as s (he) moves easiest who has learnt to dance”, Professor Goel said that the Skill of writing lessons is not an easy task and is an art which can certainly be developed through lot of reading. It needs to be noted that societies and nations can live without writing but no society can exist without reading.
Earlier Mr. Varun Sharma Director of the college welcomed & introduced Professor Goel. The Chairman of the college Shri H.K.Sharma proposed the vote of thanks
