Amritsar, January 26 : The 64th Republic Day was celebrated at the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus with great enthusiasm. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar unfurled the National Flag at the University Guest House Lawns. A large number of teachers, employees, students and campus residents took part in these celebrations. The students of the Music Department presented patriotic songs.
Prof. Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar, Dean, Academic Affairs welcomed the chief guest and others while Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar presented vote of thanks on this occasion. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare conduct the stage.
Prof. Pawar in her welcome address said that development of the any society and country are in the hands of intellectuals and good teachers. She said that for the betterment of our society, we should emphasize to implement the law inspite of blaming the law system.
Prof. Brar while congratulating the University fraternity said that during last few years last 20 years our Country has developed in all spheres, but the need of hour is to introspect what we gained and what we lost during this period. He said that science and industrial development at the same time also created imbalance in the society which could be corrected with the effective participation of education institutes of the Country.
He emphasized on quality and moral education for the betterment of the society and also eradicated the crime. He also appealed the University fraternity to follow the rules and regulation laid by them. He said that universities and colleges are not the factories of unemployed youth, so, they have to start professional courses for the students for their overall development.
Dr. Brar while expressing his concern for the people below the poverty line said that this is the moral duty of our society and youngsters to uplift them with education.
He said that to compete with the international standards education needs peaceful environment, good infrastructure and high quality teaching methodology. He said that Guru Nanak Dev University did its earnest efforts to make examination, administration and teaching transparent and more effective.
