Amritsar, October 29 : A 4-day Inter-Zonal Final Youth Festival of the Guru Nanak Dev University would be inaugurated tomorrow in the Dashmesh Auditorium of the University at 10.30 am. Mr. Manjit Singh Narang, Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau, Amritsar would be the chief guest on this occasion.
Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare said that S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Finance Minister, Govt. of Punjab would be the chief guest at the valedictory function on November 2 and Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor would preside over.
She said that more than 1000 student-artists from the affiliated Colleges are participating. She said that the festival would be inaugurated with the item of Group Dance followed by Group Shabad/Bhajan, Group Song Indian, Classical Instrumental (Percussion), Classical Instrumental (Non-Percussion) and Classical Vocal.
She said that on second day i.e. October 31, the competitions of Folk Orchestra, Classical Dance, Mime, Mimicry, One act Play, Folk Song, Elocution, Poetical Symposium, Debate, Fine Arts and Geet/Gazal would be organized at various venues.
The Director said that on the third day i.e. November 1, the competitions of Skit, Bhangra, Group Song Western, Vaar, Kavishri and Western Vocal, Quiz Preliminary, Rangoli and Phulkari would be held. Similarly, on the final day i.e. November 2, the competition of Gidha would be organized.
