Amritsar, April 21 : Guru Nanak Dev University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Daiichi Sankyo India Pharma Private Limited (DSIN) to collaborate in academic and research related activities especially in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences and microbiology.
Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar on behalf of University while Dr. Biswajit Das, Senior Director, Chemistry on behalf of Daiichi Sankyo India Pharma Private Limited exchanged the MoU in the presence of Prof. A.S. Brar, Vice-Chancellor. On this occasion, Prof. M. S. Hundal, Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof. T. S. Benipal, Director of Research, Prof. Sukhdev Singh, Dean, Life Science and Dr. Subodh Kumar from Chemistry Department & representative of Daiichi Sankyo India Pharma Private Limited, Dr. Suman Gupta from Research Planning Department were present.
Daiichi Sankyo India Pharma Private Limited is a company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956, having its registered office at village Sarhaul, Sector 18, Udyog Vihar, industrial Area, Gurgaon, Haryana.
Prof. Brar said that the scope of this collaboration is the exchange of graduate and post-graduate students of the University in the discipline of chemistry, pharmacology, microbiology and biotechnology for project work and training in Daiichi Sankyo.
Dr. Suman Gupta while detailing about the DSIN said that both parties agree to work together; the concerned scientists of DSIN and corresponding faculty members of University will formulate joint research plan for the joint work on a ‘case by case’ basis, with due approval of the steering committee.
She said that it will also include the exchange of University students, technical staff and faculty members, organizing Joint conferences, workshop and courses. She said that DSIN will consider sponsored research project(s) with university in area of mutual interest.
