Amritsar, April 23 : A 2-days Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme of Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy was organized on “Physiological Basis of Exercise Prescription and Training” in the Conference Hall of the Guru Nanak Bhawan of the Guru Nanak Dev University on April 21 and 22.
Dr. Shyamal Koley, Head of the Department said that Prof. Dr. P.K. Sehajpal, Dean, Student’s Welfare inaugurated the CME Programme and mentioned about the importance of regular physical exercises to maintenance the fitness of an individual. He said that physical exercise has immense impact for the enchnacement of the performance of the sports persons.
Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Dean, Faculty of Sports Medicine and Physiotheraphy discussed about the tradition of organizing CME programmes in the Department.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. G.L. Khanna, Dean, Applied Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad explained the planning of discussion and demonstration of Exercise prescription a and training for the two days CME programmes. He said that the students could enrich their knowledge of Exercise prescription and training with practical demonstration and vivid dicsussions.
Dr. Shyamal Koley, Head of the Department discussed the importance of rich tradition of academic and professional programmes like CME. He explained the improtance of exercise presciption for patients with common diseased like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Diseases and others. Also sports-event- specific exercise prescrition and training protocol was essential, he added.
