Kurukshetra : Gita Niketan Awasiya Vidyalaya, Kurukshetra formally embarked on the journey of MUN,Model United Nations,on the day that marks the celebration of UN Day i.e.Oct.24,2016 after a number of practice sessions and workshops conducted to gain experience of the same.
MUN is an educational simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy,international relations ,public speaking and debating.Participants in MUN are called delegates. A special guest was invited to attend the event. He was Dr Neeraj Batish,Senior Assistant Professor in the Law Department,KUK.
The guest accompanied by Dr Rishi Goel, Principal hoisted UN flag along with the national flag. There were 25 delegates who represented nations like India,Russia,Syria,Pakistan,Japan,France etc.MUN assembly was chaired by Secretary General and flanked by Chair and Vice-chair.
The delegates spoke very lucidly and impressively on the menace of ‘Terrorism’.The entire set up was done in complete adherence to the protocol observed by the international body. While giving a deeper insight into MUN ,Dr Batish said that students developed confidence and leadership skills through its conduction.He said MUN conferences are opportunities to help students think at a global level and at the same time suggest solutions to the problems keeping in view interests of the other nations.He showered a lavish praise on the participants and the teacher who prepared them and offered his services as a mentor as and when required.
