Chandigarh : Technofest-2016 was organised in Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh on 8th April 2016 at GMCH Auditorium by the allied health professionals and paramedical students.Technofest-2016 is an annual event of Allied Health professionals & students organized every year on the issue of National importance. A Light & Sound show on “Sex Selection Drugs” and “Nationalism” besides regional dances from Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra and Fashion Show was performed during the programme.
Inter College Tournaments among the Students from various colleges were also held in the morning. Ms. Damini Sharma won the Ist prize in solo song, Ms. Amanpreet Kaur won the Ist prize in solo dance & Ms. Simran won first prize in western dance.
Mr. Arun Sood, Mayor, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest & Sh.Sanjay Tandon was the Guest of Honour during this programme. Prof. Atul Sachdev Director Principal, while giving the welcome address congratulated the Allied health students for organizing such a colourful cultural programme and appreciated the students for their approach to highlight the issues of national importance.
Mr. Arun Sood while addressing the audience said that the Students can make major change in our society by highlighting the social issues existing in our society. He appreciated the Dr. Sutapa for her work in the field of “Sex Selection Drugs” and assured his support for this cause in Chandigarh. He requested the students to perform the Light Sound Programme again on 14.04.2016 at Lake in Sector-42, Chandigarh. Mr. Sood appreciated Mr.Laxmi Kant Tewari, Chairman of the organizing Committee Technofest-2016 for organising a programme on the issues of National Importance and guiding the students to contribute positively in the development of their society and country.
Sh. Sanjay Tandon told the Students should involve themselves in social activities besides their studies to be a good citizen. He further said Allied Health Professionals are backbone of Health care team and they need due recognizition. He informed the professionals that NDA government is working on the creation of Allied Health Professional Council for them very soon.
Mr. Laxmi Kant Tewari said while addressing the students that freedom should not be taken so lightly, Students should also understand their duties towards Nation rather accusing their own country. He said our aim is not to give education allied health profession rather making them good citizen to build a strong and successful Nation.
Dr.Rakesh Gupta, Additional Private Secretary to Chief Minister of Haryana was also present during the Technofest-2016 and was very happy to see the Light & Sound programme “Akhir Kyon” on “Sex Selection Drugs”. He asked the students to repeat the Light & Sound programme in Haryana.
The Light & Sound programme “Akhir Kyon” on “Sex Selection Drugs” was successful in conveying the message hat sex of the child cannot be changed by giving medicine rather it can lead to various disorders such as physical disability, genetic disorder, less mental growth and death of infant. The audience was full of emotion at the end of play.
A play on Nationalism “Rang De Basanti” was also played during the programme. Students have raised various current issues regarding Nationalism in our country. This play was successful to give the message that we got freedom after many sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
The regional dances performed by the students entertained the audience till the end of programme.
The programme was ended with the prize distribution to the winners of competitions and Organizing Committee by Sh. Khuswant Rai Gigga, Chairman Punjab Infotech.
