August 14, 2015 : The traditional festival of Teej was celebrated with fervour and gaiety at Mata Sahib Kaur Public Senior Secondary School, Swara, Mohali. A colourful ‘Mela’ was organised by the school to mark the celebrations. Girl students wearing traditional dresses danced to the tunes of Punjabi music and recited ‘Boliyan’ (verses of Punjabi music). Gidda and Bhangra performances were appreciated by students and staff members.

The girls and boys of class XI and XII took part in ‘Mr Singh and Ms Kaur’ contest. The title of ‘Mr Singh’ was bagged by Maninder Singh and Sumandeep Kaur was adjudged ‘Ms Kaur’.
The Principal of the school, Ranjit Kaur, said, “Teej reminds us of happy times in our life. Our younger generation should not forget our traditional and cultural values. I believe that only those countries progress which remembers the cultural heritage and it is our duty to spread awareness among our youth about our rich inheritance”.
