Khanpur, April 24- “ To make a difference in Indian society, let us discuss and debate the discriminations, deprivations and discontent in the development process . We need to make sincere efforts for the removal with a systematic process of change which must be continued without the pollution in the air. Let us break the old traditions to create a space for the relevant issues including corruption, population and inflation with good governance and SMART (simple, moral, action oriented, responsive and transparent) administration,” opined Dr. M.M. Goel, Professor of Economics & Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kurukshetra University while addressing the participants of a orientation course of the UGC -Academic Staff College, B.P.S. Women University here today.
He was speaking on the topics ‘Rationale and Issues in Good Governance’ and also ‘Excellence Models for Teachers in a Changing Economic Scenario’.
To stand in the crowd, a teacher needs to become unique even if weak in the present times of competition where survival of fittest is the mantra.
The economics of education instead of increasing the value of education has devalued the real value of education. There is a strong case to strengthen the educational value of education which is more than making a person capable of earning his/her livelihood, observed Professor Goel.
He feels pain in saying that spiritual bankruptcy and the commercialization of education are the root causes of deteriorating educational standards in India and is a serious issue of concern for polluting relationship between teacher and student of today.
To reestablish teaching as a profession which has otherwise become a vocation, we need honest, humane and hard working teachers. We have to move with common sense of faith in god which provides morality, opulence, victory and empowerment (MOVE).
