Kurukshetra, Dec.13- “The inclusiveness of education is a distant dream in India where educational loans (13.25 percent rate of interest) are costlier than car loans (10.75 rate of interest). The cost of education (private and social) is increasing day by day which is further fueled by inflation,” opined Dr. M. M. Goel, Professor of Economics & Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kurukshetra University while addressing the participants of the orientation course of the UGC -Academic Staff College, Kurukshetra University here today. He was speaking on the topic ‘Excellence Models for Teachers in a Changing Economic Scenario’.
We need to remember that the ideals being taught in the institutions of higher learning including universities do not match up with reality as people face the different real life situations, said Professor Goel
For increasing the return on training investment (ROTI) through placements, we need to improve the communication skills and provide spiritual input to the students, told Professor Goel.
There is a strong case for concrete plan of action for creative scholarship even punishment to publish paper in place of disciplinary action against the teacher is the need of the hour, believes Professor Goel.
Earlier Professor Sucheta Gupta of the ASC welcomed & introduced Professor Goel.
