Kurukshetra, Jan.15- “To improve educational financing in India , there is a strong case for universities/ institutions to identify opportunities in share / capital market with great potential for equity investments. Let the academicians with bank balances become angel investors who can provide promising venture capital as well as advice for education. Let Reserve Bank of India and Finance Ministry create conducive climate for public and private partnership (PPP) through share market availability to education sector for generating financial resources to bring efficiency, sufficiency and equity, ” opined Dr. M. M. Goel, Professor of Economics & Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kurukshetra University while addressing the participants of the Faculty Development Programme for Science & Technology Entrepreneurial Development organized by University Institute of Engineering Technology (UIET), Kurukshetra University here today. For promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing returns on training investments, we need to provide level-playing field with work culture through good governance. Let fee structure and user charges be linked with inflation rate at least in self-financing courses, said Professor Goel.
We need to nurture the academic culture in our universities without bothering technical solutions such as teacher student ratio which is generally perceived as a quality indicator, said Professor Goel.
We have to remove the fear among various social groups by creating new institutional culture which brings diversity of opinion developing new knowledge systems, advocated Professor Goel who is an author of the book ‘ Economics of Human Resource Development in India’.
Let us train our students to become critical thinkers in stead of foot solders. Let us understand our limitations in getting ranks and redefine of our ends of education with values of life more than providing job opportunities, said Professor Goel.
