Chandigarh : The day concluded with lip-smacking items that were made in The Chef Competition, which was organized for the third year students of Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, where “Dilshad Singh Bhatia” was called to be the best chef of the day. The students of the college were judged on their Products taste, presentation, aroma, hygiene by the very known Chef from the industry Chef C.M. Bhan, Principal Chitkara Institute of Hotel Management and Chef Dipayan (Sous chef, Homtel- A Sarovar Hotel).
10 students were short listed for the competition, and the task was to prepare a three-course continental menu the first one being a soup/starter, second being a main course with accompaniments and the third was a plated dessert. The catch was a “Mystery Basket “which contained two types of meat,a fruit and an herb which was necessary to be incorporated.
Some of the exquisite kitchen products prepared by the students were Crispy Fish pockets, Lamb Steaks with barbeque sauce, Pan-tossed vegetables, Herb potato wedges, Fresh Fruit and Chocolates Crepe. Spaghetti with Saffron prawns, Dark pepper chicken with garden green, Apple Crumble with red wine Sauce, Fish Fillet with wilted Lettuce with Warm cucumber salad and tomatoes butter sauce, Prawn cocktail, chocolate mousse in edible chocolate cup and much more.
The winners of the spectacular Chef Competition events were as follows:
1st Position – Dilshad Singh Bhatia
2nd Position – Shefali Pushpam
3rd Position – Rahul Anand
“I feel really proud when I see young chefs coming out with flying colors, when the judges praised the platform and students seemed flabbergasted by it! I felt proud within for providing them with such a platform. Furthermore, I plan to organize this more frequently” said Mrs. Bharti Tyagi, Principal of the Institute.
