Right from Vice-Chancellor upto non-teaching employees of Maharishi Panini Sanskrit Evam Vedic Vishwavidyalaya will be degree holders in Sanskrit language. Academic dress at the university’s convocation will be white dhoti-kurta and turban. Pink sari with “Ang Vastra (a piece of cloth worn on auspicious occasions) same as the colour of turban to be worn by men, has been fixed as dress of women candidates at the convocation. These decisions were taken at a meeting of the university’s General Council chaired by Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma here today. Finance Minister Shri Raghavji was also present on the occasion.
At the General Council meeting, academic set-up of the university was re-structured. Now, the university will have Ved Evam Vyakaran, Sanskrit Sahitya Evam Darshan, Vishisht Sanskrit (Prachya), Jyotish Evam Jyotirvigyan and Shiksha Shastra departments. Besides, three-year B.A. (honours) and Classics, two-year M.A. Classics, one-year course of B Ed (Shikshashastri) will also be started.
The General Council meeting also decided to start one-year courses of Jyotirvigyan, Paurohitya, Vaastu, Prayogik Vyavaharhik Sanskrit, Yoga Shastra, Shastriya Nritya, Shastriya Gayan and Paramparik Chitrakala Evem Sanskrit Rangkarm. Members of the General Council, Vice-Chancellor of Panini Sanskrit Evam Vedic Vishwavidyalaya, Secretaries of Finance and Higher Education departments and other officers were present on the occasion.
