Chhaya School of Art (CSA) which was establishedunder the Chhayakriti Pratibha Trust in 1999; celebrated its Founders day today.As many as 700 students from grades — Pre Nursery to Class XI of CSA participated in the Annual Function by performing various dance forms like classical, semi-classical, western, folk, contemporary etc along with a thought provoking play. The play highlighted the importance of women in our World. CSA students paid a befitting tribute to singing legend Mr. Manna Dey who passed away recently, by singing some of his enchanting songs.
According to Mr Kaushik Sinha, Chairman, CSA, “Training in Chhaya School of Art includes Classical Music — Both Vocal & Instrumental, Classical dances, Fine Arts, folk Music & Dances etc.Three painting competitions are held in a year –in April, July & October. At the end of the year, we conduct an Annual Function cum Founder’s Day wherein we give prizes to all the students who participated in the 3 competitions.”
Mr. Sumit Goyal, the Producer of Punjabi movie Jatt Airways was the Chief Guest while Mrs. Shail Sachdev,Dir, Careutility Products was the Guest of Honour at the Annual Day.
The function saw a prize distribution ceremony in which 4 CSA Topper Awards were given to 2 girls and 2 boys and 6 Shining Star Awards were handed out to 6 children who were selected for the award based on their performances. CSA has been rigorously fulfilling its social responsibility. Today, 3 CSA Asha Awards to underprivileged children who showed promise in Arts were also given. Says Ms. Praveen Sinha, Director, CSA, “We at Chhaya regularly take students to places like Slum Areas, Old Age Homes, where the children can share their knowledge and spread the meaning of Art with those deprived of so many things in life. Our students have also been performing Street Plays to portray current Social issues.”
CSA is promoted by Art Professionals. While Mr. Kaushik Sinha has achieved ‘the best teacher’ award from former Punjab Governor Lt Gen (Retd) J F R Jacob, Mrs. Praveen Sinha is a Master’s in Arts from Kurukshetra and also has been a topper in Punjab University. CSA has grown from just 2 students to a present strength of 1200.
