Two days International Seminar on “Sustainable Development, Gandhian Legacy and 21st Century Challenges” (09-10, 2018) ended with Valedictory function at Gandhi Bhawan. Prof. Ronki Ram Guest of Honour expressed Gandhism is as relevant today as in past. His concept of ‘Sustainable Development’ lies how better we can use our natural Resources like water etc. and with human development.
In his Valedictory address: Prof. M.S. Jaglan Department of Geography, Kurukshetra University, in 21st Century a new challenges has been proved now that is climate change will eminently impact the ecological conditions world over. There is need to take action from local to global level to mentor and adapt to climate change. Around 80 Research Papers were presented in two days seminar from eminent scholars and faculty members from different University. In his address note Sh. Charanjit Singh Channi Cabinet Minister ‘Technical Education and Industrial Training ,Punjab strongly advocated Idea of Sustainable Development endorsed by Mahatma Gandhi in his words. Let us start with ourself. In Gandhi’s views balanced development or sustainable Development is a balanced growth between Man and Nature, where both can go side by side for the betterment of future generations. He also emphasized on to strengthen our economy we should not disturb the economy of Nature.. Earlier Dr. Seema Pasricha managed stage both at Inaugural and Valedictory function.
Valedictory function was ended a very happy note at Gandhi Bhawan and Chairperson Dr. Ashu Pasricha thanked all the guests, Research Scholars for making two days seminar a big success and pledged we at the Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies will continue to extend legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and path shown by Late Professor Jai Narain Sharma.
