Chandigarh : Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh experienced an enriching orientation head by Mr.Vivek Atray, A civil servant by profession, but a writer at heart. His wit, humour and felicity of observation have made him quite a draw in the world of “Middles”, several of which he has penned for some leading newspapers. Some of his famous articles are- Maid in India, Screaming times and World Beaters focusing on the funny instances of life. He interacted with the students of class 6th -10th and told them about his new work, “Move on Bunny!”
The book is based on a dashing and confident ladies man – Bunny Kapoor. After the success of this first book, Mr.Vivek plans a sequel. According to him, “Writing is a great way to express yourself; you get your views to a wide audience. You need to remain honest with the subject and when writing a fiction book, make sure the fiction connects with real life.”
He shared his life experiences and gave some suggestions to the aspiring reporters and writers in the school. When asked about his inspiration, he suggested the students to read books by P.G woodhouse.
Yashna Rampal, a student of Class 10th commented, “We enjoyed the orientation. He gave us very valuable suggestions about writing and made us laugh at the same time. The book seems to be really interesting.”
Ms.Punita Singh, school counselor concluded, “It was a very educational experience. He gave wonderful tips on humor writing and taught the students to find humor in serious situations. We are very thankful to him for taking out time for us.”
