PASIGHAT, Feb 21: The 39-Mebo MLA Ralom Borang accompanied by DC Talem Tapok, Block President (NCP) Todol Pertin and party functionaries visited Bogong Village and inaugurated a newly constructed primary school building, upgrading from Education Grant Scheme (EGS) to primary standard. In his inaugural speech as chief guest Borang lauded the efforts carried out by the SSA.
He said education is compulsory for each and every citizen. Trough education they could alleviate various societal problems related with poverty, ignorant and ill-health. He urged the villagers to donate more lands for future prospect/extension and also to monitor for effective functioning of the school. Responding to memorandum submitted by the villagers, Borang assured that all genuine demands would be considered and further stated that classroom materials like blackboard, text books, furniture etc would be provided by the DDSE soon. Stating education was the prime agenda, the MLA said developments depend on proper plans and political will. While stressing on other developments, he said the area is being developed and efforts are on constructing road and bridges, electrifying villages and ensuring water supply to every places.
Earlier the Guest of Honour Talem Tapok, DC said that it was the first step towards a great stride. Tapok who is also District Project Director, SSA Mission, exhorted the parents to educate their children as education is the greatest wealth which could bring ocean change in the society. He stressed on land registration to prevent land encroachment and also to assured to visit the school time to time in future to look into the other infrastructural need of the school. He urged the teachers and students to sincere, dedicated and punctual. Taking privilege on the occasion Tapok urged the Gaon Burahs to be more reasonable, loyal and impartial while delivering justice at village level.
Block President Todol Pertin said though the present students’ strength is 36 and it would cater the need of the people in producing quality citizens in future. He appealed the school management and the teachers to offer with quality education to the students by uplifting the standardization of teachings for the bright future of the school children. The DDSE cum District Project Officer Tani Talom and Kalom Ering Coordinator SSA also spoke on the occasion. Duo informed that the four-rooms building, funded by SSA was constructed at the cost of thirteen lacs. In their speeches, they said setting up the new government Primary school is aimed at covering all children under compulsory education and assured all possible assistance towards the school.
