By Kamlesh Padaliya , Bhimtal : The 2nd Student State Convention for Computer Society of India (CSI) is to be conducted at Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS), Bhimtal on 11th-12th April, 2013. The first state convention was held at University of Petroleum Studies (UPES), Dehradun. This state convention is the first of its kind in the Kumaon region.
As we all know, CSI, one of the biggest platforms for displaying hardware and software skills in the field of Information Technology, was established in 1965. It has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry down the right path since its formative years. Today, the CSI has 71 chapters all over India for 418 Student Branches and more than 90,000 members, including India’s most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professional, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. The CSI is also working closely with other industry association, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement spread ultimately.
The BIAS CSI chapter was inaugurated in 2012. Within a span of few months, the membership has grown up to 140 and is still increasing. There is a regular participation in all the events and seminars organized under CSI. Now BIAS is organizing a State Level Convention which aims at providing a platform to everyone so that they can use their skills and talent to compete with other individuals and to gain experience and knowledge.
Mr. Mahesh Chandra, Deputy Director General, National Informatics Centre (NIC), New Delhi has given his consent to be the chief guest for this occasion. The other dignitaries for this inaugural session includes Prof. R.K Vyas, Regional Vice President, CSI and Prof. H.N. Hoda, Divisional Chairperson………., to name a few.
There are various events scheduled to be conducted such as the coding competition “De Koder”, “Workshop on PhP”, “Robo Race”, ”Web Designing Competition”, which provide a platform to the students to showcase their technical skills. The evening will also have some competitive rocking performances by the bands of various colleges.
On 12th April, there are the “Technical Quiz”, “Workshop on VHDL”, “Cyber Forensics” and ”Research Paper Presentation”. The eve will witness a guest lecture by a senior official from TCS followed by the prize distribution and the Valedictory Session.
The annual fest “Spectrum’13” of the institute BIAScommences from 12th of April which contain various cultural, sports and technical events and would be a grand event with the participation of various colleges. It is a two day fest which would create a techno cultural environment for the students, with a lot of fun events too.
