Mohali : The Annual Cultural Extravaganza Panache 2011 unfurled at manav mangal SMART SCHOOL, MOHALI. The event began with a prayer song ‘ Mujhe Raas aa gaya’. Prayer is bringing God and His resources into our earthly realities. Without it our activities are empty and temporal. Students of Class V presented Puppet Dance which was presented in a unique and innovative manner.
The bodies of the children were painted and they looked puppet like as they danced in unison. The item was appreciated and applauded by all. It was followed by an item which reflected the various diverse culture of India. The diverse culture of India, is several millennia old and it was presented through a parody of music pieces signifying the various dance forms.
The colour and vibrance on stage made it alive. Next item was on the latest concern of India – Corruption. Corruption, the noxious termite which is eating up our society was presented in form of a street play urged the audience to stand up together against it and clean up our society and country as usually corruption begins from us. Girls of Class IX and X presented a soul stirring item on Domestic violence – the crime against women which is one of the most unreported crimes in the world. It was portrayed through a dance.
It described the plight of the women suffering from domestic violence and how she realizes that she alone has to stand up and rise above it instead of wallowing in self pity. No one else, but ‘She’, herself can help her to regain the lost dignity. In the end, children paid a tribute to the freedom fighters. Our freedom was not served to us on a platter. It was earned by the selfless sacrifices of thousands of men and women. An enactment weaved with dances was presented as a homage to all freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country.
The audience appreciated the presentations and the confidence with which the children preformed. The Director of the school Mr. Sanjay Sardana present on the occasion in his interaction with the press stated that we as an institution feel it as our responsibility not only to entertain but to present meaningful and thought provoking acts on stage to create more aware and conscientious citizens of tomorrow.
