PASIGHAT, Feb-17: P Dorjee Sona, Parliamentary Secretary (Tourism) exhorted the students to dedicatedly study to gain knowledge and guiding light to the society. He inaugurated the 45th Annual College Day celebration of JN College, Pasighat today. He also appealed them to follow those luminaries who have become successful and serving the state as well as the nation in different capacities. Sona said such occasions provide a platform to show their talents and also learn from each other. It also creates unity, brotherhood and discipline amongst the students. The real winner is one who accept defeat gracefully and strive to do better, he further added.
Pasighat : The Chief Guest appealed the gathering to be conscious of climatic changes and spread awareness about the global warming and its ill effects. Replying to the problems focused by Zing Darang general secretary, JNCSU, Sona said that the government is trying to revamp the education system. He admitted the need of improvements of infrastructure like library, girl hostel, security wall etc and assured to bring these in the notice of the government. The Guest of Honour Talem Tapok, DC hoped that the students and the institution will serve the purposes of higher education.
He appealed students to raise the standard of discipline and also to put in hard work to be equipped well to face the competitive world. They should stay away from politics which may create division amongst them. Rather they should devote their full time in study and for their welfare as they are the future of the nation. He advised the faculties to be demonstratively show fairness and look for the welfare of the students treating with love and concern. Students should take extensive facilities provided by the institution. Games and sports bring sense of competition and sportsmanship and develop cooperation and understanding.
Earlier, the college Principal T Talom conveyed his thanks to Sona and Tapok for their motivating speeches and also the invitees, faculties and the students to make the event successful. Talom said our students brought laurels by bagging Governor’s Award four times now. Miss Chathe Lammaty, a student of Botany (Hons) has been selected for merit award 2012 to be conferred on Feb 22 next.
