18th March, 2018 : “Alumni are the key assets of the educational institute as they represent the strength of that institute through their success. It is the responsibility of old students to give their best to the society, nation and institute whatever they have achieved through their studentship. The institute’s name is always highlighted whenever a student achieves success,” said Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar while addressing as Chief Guest at the 2nd Alumni meet organized by the Department of Alumni Relations. Sumeha Kataria, Deputy Commissioner, Panipat graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Kuldeep Bansal, Dean, Alumni Relations presided over the ceremony while Prof. Sunita Srivastva, Department of Physics, was also present on the occasion.
Former Students of the University, Sumedha Kataria, Dr. S.D. Atri, Ramesh Panwar, Jagriti, Sonal Dahiya, Suneet Setia and Prashant Gaur were honoured as ‘Pride of the University’ for excellence and achievements in their respective fields.
Lauding the achievements of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said that Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar has been ranked Grade-II University by UGC, amongst the two universities of such category in the country. Also providing the best infrastructure and facilities to its students, the university has got grade ‘A’ for three times. The university also listed eligible and therefore applied for the ‘Centre of Excellence’ this year. The department of Alumni Relation which was established in 2016 also provides financial help to the needy students, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said.
Sumedha Kataria, Deputy Commissioner, Panipat and also alumni of the university said that Alumni meet is a rallying point that creates a motivational chain between the former students. However, studying while holding a responsible position is not an easy task, but involvement with students and studies keeps one energetic, knowledge rich and active participant in the society. Emphasizing the need of healthy and clean environment she said that all students and employees must use bicycles or should commute on foot to their workplaces. It not only helps to keep us in good health and saves cost of fuel but also is the best way towards environment protection.
Prof. Kuldeep Bansal, Dean, Alumni Relations in his welcome address briefed about the department of Alumni Relation. He said that more than 350 students have been registered in the Alumni Association and 180 old students have participated in this 2nd Alunmi Meet. Office bearers and members of Alumni Association were also selected during the meet. Former students, including Raj Arya, Umashankar Sen and Ajay Shankar also offered financial help to the Alumni Association. Some of the former students, including Dr. S.D. Atri, Ramesh Panwar, Jagriti, Sonal Dahiya, Suneet Setia and Prashant Gaur also shared their experience with the participants. Dr. Anjan Kumar Baral, Joint Secretary, Alumni Association presented the vote of thanks. Deans, Directors, Officers, Incharges, Faculty and a number of former and present students were present on the occasion.
