Air Force School, 12 Wing, Air Force Station, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Day today at Depot Auditorium, Air Force Station, Chandigarh. Air Commodore SK Indoria Vayu Sena Medal, Air Officer Commanding, 12 Wing, AF Station, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. The function was attended by a large number of senior officers of the station and parents. The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp by Mrs Rakhi Indoria, President, AFWWA (Local). The Principal of the school Mrs. Reena Singh presented the School’s Annual report wherein she highlighted that there have been no detention in any class in the academic year. The Air Force School 12 Wing was adjudged as best Air Force Secondary School in Western Command Air Force for the year 2013-14 based on academic performance. The school is keeping pace with technological advancements in field of education and all classes including LKG and UKG classes are now equipped with smart boards etc for imparting quality education to children.
The performance of students in sports at School, Inter School and Inter Command level sports competitions too have been commendable. At the Inter School level sports meet, the school secured 2nd position in Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess. The School contributed 11 children to Western Command team in various deciplines. The girls secured 1st position in Athletics, 1st in 4 x 100 mtr and 4 x 200 mtr event. Nikita brought laurels to our school by securing 2nd position in high jump, long jump and 200 mtr event. At Inter Command Sports meet our students made us proud by their outstanding performances by their outstanding performance. Jashndeep Kaur and Jasmin Sidhu contributed to securing 2nd position in Table Tennis and 4th in Basketball. In Athletics, Nikita Saini, Priyanka and Satakshi participated, they secured 1st position in long jump, Vikas Saini of class IX secured 2nd position in 400 mtr and 3rd position in relay race ( 4 x 100 mtr).
Children and Staff of the School participated enthusiastically in a number of awareness campaigns such as Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, World AIDS day, Hindi Pakhwara etc . Days of National and International importance like, World Population Day, Children’s Day, Republic Day, Independence Day, Vigilance Awareness Week, National Science Day were celebrated to promote awareness, secularism, unity, harmony and to spread the message of peace and universal brotherhood.
Mrs Rakhi Indoria, President, AFWWA(L) distributed the prizes to the students who excelled in field of academics and sports. Ms Abhishikta Naik was declared as best student of the School whereas Chetak house was adjudged as best house for the academic year.
Based on initiative of Shri Kailash Satyarthi, a child right activist and Nobal Prize awardee of the year, the School hosted a theme based dance drama named ‘Stolen Childhood’ highlighting the plight of a social evil- Child labour in the society and need to eradicate this from our society. Tiny Tots of junior wing of this school ‘Bachpan’ also presented a beautiful dance.
Air Commodore S K Indoria, Vayu Sena Medal, Air Officer Commanding 12 Wing expressed his compliments for an exemplary and well coordinated performance of the students. He further encouraged the students to work hard towards realizing their dreams. He exhorted them to become responsible citizens of the society. The function concluded with the school head boy Aman giving the vote of thanks and National Anthem.
