Desh Bhagat University organised 22nd Punjab Children Science Congress on the theme “Understanding Weather and Climate” in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh. School students from all districts of Punjab participated in this three-day long event. University Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur inaugurated the final day events. She appreciated the talent of the students and urged the school boards and universities to make the teaching and learning of science easier and more interesting so that the students have no science phobia in their minds.
On this occasion Prof. Jai Roop Singh, Ex Vice Chancellor of Central University, Bathinda and Guru Nanak Dev University was the chief guest. Appreciating the initiative of the university, Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of science in everyday life and exhorted the students to study science subjects with deep interest. According to him, the proper use of science can solve all our problems and make our life very easy, comfortable and fruitful.
Dr. Neelam Gulati Sharma (Director Popularization of Science) announced the results of Punjab Children’s Science Congress and informed that selected 16 projects (8 Junior and 8 from Senior category) will participate at the National Level Children’s Science Congress to be held in Bangalore during 27-31 December, 2014.
The selected projects of the students in both categories were awarded certificates and Medals. School teachers were also honoured on this occasion.

The students were quite happy to PARTICIPATE in this programme and expressed the view that they have attained much fresh knowledge about some new areas which will help them a lot.
At the end, University Vice Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta thanked all the guests and hoped that the event will prove quite useful for the students and to the teachers as well. Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh, Controller of Examinations Dr. Inderjit Singh Sethi, Director Academic Dr. Rajesh Goyal, Director Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Pardeep Singh Cheema teachers of different institutions and large number of students were present on this occasion.
