New Delhi , 8 Apr : The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jodhpur has convicted accused S.K. Jha, the then Station Engineer, Doordarshan Kendra, Jodhpur, now Dy. Director (Engineering), Doordarshan Directorate, Mandi House, New Delhi; A.K. Chura, the then Senior Engineering Asstt. Doordarshan, Jaisalmer; Dhan Singh Deora, the then Technician, High Power Transmission, Jodhpur; Rajesh Panwar (Pvt. person) and Rakesh Panwar, the then draftman of All India Radio, Jodhpur u/s 120B r/w 465, 471, 477-A, 381 IPC and Section 7 & 13(1)(d) and r/w 13(2) of PC Act, 1988. Accused S.K. Agnihotri, the then Technician, High Power Transmission, Jodhpur and Shiv Ram Choudhary, Helper, Doordarshan Kendra, Jaipur have been convicted u/s 120-B 465, 471, 477-A IPC and Section 7 & 13(1) (d) and r/w 13(2) of PC Act, 1988. All the convicted accused persons have been sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for five years with a total fine of Rs.10,000/-.
A case was registered in Jodhpur Branch of CBI on 12.8.99 on receipt of a complaint against officers of Doordarshan Kendra, Jodhpur. It was alleged in the complaint that the officers of Doordarshan Kendra, Jodhpur were showing undue favour of some candidates in the matter of appointment of seven vacant posts of Technician in the Doordarshan, Jodhpur for some considerations. Immediate search was conducted and relevant records of the examination were seized.
During the course of investigation, it was proved that Sh. S.K. Jha the then Station Engineer of Doordarshan, Jodhpur and others have manipulated the record by increasing the numbers of some candidates to select them on the said post. After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jodhpur against the accused persons. The Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
