24 June:Navy is planning to set up an advanced Amphibious Warfare School and a huge fleet support complex at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.The foundation stone for the key complex was laid on Tuesday by Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju.
The base to be called ‘Naval Enclave’ would enhance the maritime security in the region and provide training facilities for naval, army and IAF amphibious forces, Naval officials said.
It would sport a modern jetty and berthing facilities for all naval amphibious warships including just acquired ‘INS Jalasheva’.Navy would be conducting its all-amphibious landing training at the complex.
The ceremony was marked by an operational demonstration of amphibious beaching and a display including slithering and beach assault by the naval marine commandos (MARCOS).
The new complex will come up just north of the Reliance Industries KG basin gas complex.Courtsey : DD NEWS
