In an endeavour to acquaint locals to the rich cultural diversity and the rapid strides of development and progress of the Nation, a National Integration Tour (NIT) under Sadbhavana Project, comprising of 20 elders hailing from remote villages of Zunheboto district of Nagaland was organised by 5 Assam Rifles from 17 Feb 15 to 28 Feb 2015. The delegation during its tour, visited Assam State Museum and Planetarium at Guwahati. In Hyderabad, they visited the Bottling Plant of Pepsi Corporation India at Medak, Indian School of Business, Air Force Academy, Dindigul and also interacted with Mrs Nirmala Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad. The delegation also witnessed Brahmos Missile System at Defence Research and Development Laboratory Hyderabad. The tour also visited Indian Army units of BISON Division in Hyderabad. The members took keen interest in site seeing of places of historical importance like St. Mary’s Church, Meena bazar, Park Lane, Golkonda Fort, Charminar, Chow Mahalla Palace, Salar Jung Museum, Hussain Sagar Lake and Central Mall at Hyderabad. They had an opportunity to interact with locals and exchanged their views on development, customs and traditions. The tour was flagged in by Brigadier Sushil Mann, Commander 7 Sector Assam Rifles at Zunheboto on 01 Mar 2015. The Commander while interacting with the tour members brought out, that the aim of tour in providing insight into the cultural heritage of nation has been met and also exalted the elders to imbibe development model prevailing in other parts of the country in their villages. He stressed on the need to focus on development and education of our children. Mr Toniho Yeptho, President, Sumi HOHO alongwith other civil dignitaries, Youth bodies of Zunheboto extended their heartfelt gratitude for the tour which gave an opportunity to the villagers to imbibe a sense of belonging and feeling of nationalism, which would in the long run help in strengthening the National fibre of our country.
