Jammu, 25 June 2008:Tiger Division organized a two days medical camp at Government Middle School Kehranwali, Bandral. It was yet another milestone in the spectacular journey of "OPERATION SADBHAVANA" into the hearts of the residents of the border areas.
The camp was inaugurated today by Maj Gen DL Chowdhary, GOC Tiger Division. He emphasized the importance of organizing such camps to benefit the locals of border areas who were facing difficulty in medical treatment. The medical team comprised of doctors from Army and Civil hospitals which included Medical, Pediatric, Gynaecologist, ENT, Dental and Eye specialists. Other facilities like X-Ray, clinical laboratory, ECG and free medicines were also provided. Health Education for women and young girls was conducted by lady medical officer covering ante partum, postpartum, common problems of children and prevention and control of common diseases.
The organization of such camps are part of the Indian Army’s drive to reach out to the civilian population in remote areas and the overwhelming response generated for the camp reflected the close bonding between the civilian population and the Army.
The response to the facilities was very encouraging. A total of 600 persons were provided expert medical advise and medicines over the two days.
