30 Oct :Lt. Gen O P Mathew, Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi has been appointed as Colonel Commandant of Army Medical Corps. Gen. Mathew did his MBBS from AFMC, Pune in 1970 and MD in General Medicine in 1979 from the same college.
He obtained DM Degree in Cardiology in 1988 from Pune, University. A Recipient of GOC-in-C (Western Command) commendation, Chief of Army Staff Commendation, Sena Medal and Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal, Gen. Mathew is an accomplished medical professional with over 38 years of comprehensive experience in medical care and hospital administration. He has vast experience of working in all capacities as medical care provider (primary, secondary & tertiary levels), Health (including HRM) manager, medical administrator and planner. He has contributed about 40 papers in national and international journals on various subjects ranging from high altitude research to lipids and coronary artery diseases and stem cell treatment in acute Myocardial Infraction etc. Known as Reputed Teacher in Cardiology, he has taught at Bombay, Pune and Delhi Universities.
