Chandigarh : To mark the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Indo-Pak War 1965, celebrations are being planned in a befitting manner in Western Command. The main function will be organized at various military stations on 22 September 15 which will primarily centre around paying tributes to our brave martyrs and war heroes. It may be recalled that some of the most outstanding battles of the modern warfare like ‘Battle of Asal Uttar’, ‘Dograi’ ‘Basantar’ and ‘Haji Pir’ were fought during this war. Western Command gave an outstanding account of itself in the war and gave a befitting reply to the aggressive and evil designs of Pakistan.
Earlier, seminars on 1965 Indo-Pak War have been conducted at Jalandhar Cantt, Chandimandir and Yol Cantt during the last month. Various eminent panelists were invited both from civil and military background including the veterans who actually participated in the war. The firsthand accounts of veterans who participated in the war will be especially useful to the present generation. As a build up to the main event, various events have already commenced. These include dedication of ‘Prerna Sthal’ at Hussainiwala on 08 July as also a Seminar held at Jalandhar on 07 July.
