27 July ” Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa on Monday has announced an honorarium of Rs five lakh each to be given to the families of the 15 Kargil martyrs from the state.
Paying homage to the martyrs in the state Assembly on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Kargil conflict, he said that five lakh would be given to the martyrs family while those injured and facing disability would be given Rs one lakh each.
Of the Rs five lakh, the martyr’s wife and children would be given Rs three lakh, and his parents Rs two lakh, he said.
In case the martyr was unmarried, the honorarium would be given to his parents/guardian, Yeddyurappa said, adding, the sum would handed over during Independence Day celebrations.
The Chief Minister said the government would bear all the education expenses of the children of Kargil martyrs and if the children were above 18 years, they would be given government jobs.
