21 Feb :The CRPF — the world’s largest paramilitary force – was awarded the best police marching contingent trophy for their performance during this year’s Republic Day parade by Defence Minister A K Antony.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director-General V K Joshi received a trophy and certificate from the Defence Minister at a function in South Block on Friday.
The force won the coveted trophy after 16 years, last being in 1993.The paramilitary force, which has 210-battalions, had a powerful 144-men strong parade contingent on 26th January at the Rajpath which was led by parade commander Sanjeev Chaudhary.
"The parade at Delhi is the most important one and the whole nation watches it. This year’s parade had been the best that was ever seen. I congratulate everyone who worked hard to make the event success," Antony said after presenting the trophy.
The function, held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Defence, also saw various awards and trophies being presented to other organisations and tableauxes.
"The force is very proud and happy to receive the award. The boys who formed the marching contingent had worked very hard and their efforts have resulted into this prestigious trophy for the force after 16 years," Joshi said after the ceremony.
