13 August :On the basis of the result of the Combined Defence Services Examination-(II), 2007, held by the Union Public Service Commission and interview conducted by the Service Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence, 395 (336*+59**) candidates have finally qualified for admission to the (I) *Officers Training Academy,
Chennai, 88th Short service Commission Course (for men) and (II) **2nd Short Service Commission Course for women (Non-Technical), commencing in October, 2008. The list of 88th Short Service Commission Course (for Men) also includes the names of the candidates who were recommended earlier on the basis of results of the same examination for the admission to the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Naval Academy, Goa Course and Air force academy , Hyderabad Course.
The number of vacancies as intimated by the Government for (I) Short service Commission Course (for Men) is 175 and for (II) 2nd Short service Commission for women (Non- Technical) Course is 15. The candidature of all the candidates is provisional.
