The India Post, Chandigarh: October 02, 2008 : As a part of on going Air force day celebrations, Chandigarh Air Force units have displayed aircrafts, armament systems and ground equipments on show for a close look for all serving defence personnel with their families and children today at Air Force Station Chandigarh. Large number of people accompanied by their family and children witnessed the modern flying machines and arms and ammunitions used by those in penetrating enemy and defending the security of the nation.
Being one of the most important transport base of the Air Force, IL-76 , AN -32 transport aircraft and Mi -26 Helicopter was placed in the Display which is in day to day use to provide Air Maintenance support in forward and remote areas .The biggest and heaviest helicopter in the world , the MI-26, drawn more attention of viewers.
3 BRD Air Force put-up Mi-8 Helicopter which is of multi utility including assault role. MIG-27 Fighter was also on show including its armament fittings and ammunitions used in it. Among the ground equipments the BEML tractor , DASS Jones Crane, Schopf Tractors and aircraft starting trolleys and other different type of ladders were on display which are used while working on the aircraft.
Large number of children enjoyed the show out of which teenagers found motivated by the role of Indian Air Force during peace and operations. Children were supplied with posters and leaflets which contained details regarding history and achievements of the organization since its inception.
