Dec 15 :An Amendment Bill to set up national investigating agency was on Monday approved by the Union Cabinet. The agency will be set up after amending the unlawful activities prevention act 1967 to investigate inter-state and trans-national crimes. An official spokesman said in New Delhi this evening that cabinet also approved a proposal for amendment to the CISF Act. Bills for the purpose will be introduced in the Parliament. Our correspondent reports that Prime Minsiter had assured the nation to set up the National Investigating Agency in the aftermath of Mumbai terror attacks. The government has also made it clear that a tough law to deal with terrorists activities will be in place soon. Government has already taken a series of measures to strengthen security in the country. NSG hubs are being set up at different metropolitan cities, apart from initiating measures for setting up a coastal command for overall supervision and co-ordination of maritime and coastal security.
The Home Minister Mr. P.Chidambaram has also assured the parliament to provide modern equipment and strengthen the intelligence gathering network for eradicating the menace of terrorism from India.
