MOHD MAJID MALIK ,BHADERWAH,Jan 15– Children of Athkar High School, Sartingal Bhaderwah took an extraordinary initiative to celebrate 66th Army Day by participating in Essay writing and Drawing competition, today. A total of 20 schools from various schools took part with each school fielding five students of 8th, 9th and 10th standard. The encouraging part was the participation of girls students.
The Essay Writing and Drawing Competitions were based on theme of ‘Role of Youth in India’. The students took active part with enthusiasm to showcase their talent and make beautiful and imaginative paintings thereby making the event more colourful.Students also presented songs depicting national integration and also took part in prade . Renowned social worker Ranbhir Singh Manhas was chief guest where as Principal of the various schools were also present on the occasion along with personnel and officers of 4 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion .
The guest along with army also spoke to the students on the historic event of Army Day and its significance. Students on the occasion was thrilled and said that they was elated to learn about the magnificent occasion of Army Day. They added that “they was proud of the Indian Army and would join the Army future and added that 4 RR army during earth quake in last year provide tents and other things to people in bhaderwah and also organised free computer classes , medical camps and tour for needy people ”.Prizes along with certificates of merits were also distributed among the students by 4 RR as a good will gesture to pay homage to brave Army Jawans who died for nation.Where as to commemorate the 66th Indian Army Day, Sohanda 26 Rashtriya Rifles of Suigarh (Delta Force) organised friendly sports matches and children painting / Slogan competition in the Gundo Sub Division.Friendly volleyball matches with mixed teams of 26 RR Army and locals were organised at Sohanda and Gwari (Gundo) by the unit. Apart from the players the locals came in large number to witness the games. The children Painting / Slogan competition below 15 years was organised at Halaran in which total of 42 children participated with lot of enthusiasm. All the children and players were distributed sweets and prizes during the events. The volleyball teams were presented with volleyballs to assist team to play in their villages.The Army 4 RR and locals celebrated the occasion with lot of fervor and locals were happy that such event were organised by the Rashtriya Rifles.It is notable to mention here that Army Day in India is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year on 15th of January. It has been started celebrating to respect the Lieutenant General of India, K. M. Cariappa (Kodandera Madappa Cariappa) who was the first Indian Army’s Commander-in-Chief. It is celebrated every year at all the Army Command headquarters and national capital by organizing army parades including many other military shows.
