Ambala, May 2- Army Recruiting Office, Ambala Cantt. has decided to recruit Junior Commissioned Officers–Religious Teachers like Pandits,Granthis and Monks for RRT-58 course to fill up a total of 26 vacancies which included 16 Pandits, eight Granthis and two Monks. While stating this here today, a spokesman of Army Recruiting Office said that the eligible candidate, in case of a civil person, should not be below the age of 27 years or over 34 years as on November 24, 2008. Similarly, in case of re-mustered Army person, the candidate should not be below 25 years or 34 years as on November 24,2008. He said that the minimum educational qualification for appointment would be graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. In addition, the candidate must also possess one of the prescribed qualifications according to the religious denomination of the individual. In case of Pandit, the candidate should possess Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the concerned regional language. Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit or Hindi as one of the elective subject, but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi, would also be eligible.
He said that for the post of Granthi, the minimum qualification would be graduation from a recognised university. In addition, the candidate must also be qualified as Vidwan in Punjabi or equivalent standard in the concerned regional language. Those who have passed BA with Punjabi as one of the elective subjects, but have not done Vidwan in Punjabi, would also be eligible.
He said that those who have been ordained Buddhist Monk Priesthood by the appropriate authority , would be eligible to be a Monk. He clarified that appropriate authority would mean a Head Priest of the monastery where the person has been initiated into priesthood. The required educational qualification for a Monk would be 10 plus two, he added.
While describing the mode of selection, he said that the candidate would have to appear in a written examination followed by an interview. The required physical standards should be height 160 cms,weight 50 kg, chest 77 cms and 1.6 km run in eight minutes.
He said that preliminary screening and medical examination would be carried out from June 2 to 7, 2008 for candidates hailing from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory of Chandigarh. He made it clear that the exact date and place would be intimated in the call letters to the short listed candidates.
He said that the written examination would be conducted at Army Recruiting Office, Ambala Cantt. on June 8, 2008 and call letters for
interview would be issued to successful candidates by Army headquarters at the nominated training centres.
The last date for receipt of application forms is May 12, 2008. Duly completed applications should be addressed to the Examination Cell,
Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Chander Shekhar Marg, Ambala Cantt. The last date for receipt of application forms is May 12, 2008, he added.
